Shooting an advertisement with the Nas Daily crew!

Our team were with acclaimed vlogger Nuseir Yassin of the Nas Daily fame to shoot an advertisement! To say that we had fun getting to make a video with Nas and his crew would be a major understatement. It was awesome experience working with people of such intense energy. :)
Co-hosting at the Marina Mandarin Hotel for the 19th ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters

The gala dinner for the 19th ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters was hosted in Singapore this year. The event was attended by delegates from the public service sectors of various ASEAN countries, as well as those from China, Japan and South Korea. You could say that this is EDGAR's first gig for an international meeting. We are most happy to see many attendees whip their phones out to capture EDGAR in action! Congratulations on the successful conference and big thanks to the Public Service Division, Singapore for inviting us to this prestigious event!

In action at the Global Art Forum: 'I Am Not A Robot'| Singapore, hosted by ArtScience Museum and Art Dubai

Is the development of new technologies such as the latest humanoid robots all about nuts and bolts, as well as hard science? The process undoubtedly requires knowledge and the implementation of the latest technologies but it is also very much about artistic design so that users accept the robot more readily. At this conference, EDGAR and Dr Wong Choon Yue were able to share with the audience, an urgent need to be inspired by artistic implementations of science so that future products can be a testament to the multidisciplinary capabilities of our inventors. Hopefully, EDGAR can stay at the ArtScience Museum as an exhibit in the future!
Visit by Minister for Social and Family Development, Second Minster for the Ministry of National Development: Mr Desmond Lee

This year, the winners of the JurongSpring Education Award received their prizes at NTU's Robotics Research Centre from Minister Desmond Lee. We are very glad to have been able to share with these students our experience in developing robots. We sure hope to see these students back in NTU in the future!

Co-hosting the National Day Observance Ceremony at the Civil Service College

The EDGAR team was at the Civil Service College's National Day Observance Ceremony 2018. EDGAR co-hosted the event with the Emcees and was the centerpiece of many group photos. The organisers and participants found EDGAR to be a refreshing addition to this yearly event. We sure are glad to be so warmly received. Big thanks to the Civil Service College, Singapore.

Co-hosting the Public Service Transformation Awards 2018

EDGAR was at the Public Transformation Awards 2018, held at Resorts World Sentosa. This event organized by the Public Service Division of the Prime Minister's Office, saw some 400 awards given to individuals and agencies in recognition of excellence. It is a true privilege to share the stage with them and with Minister Chan Chun Sing. EDGAR even had a chance to dance on stage. It was also such a fun experience co-hosting with CNA presenter, Glenda Chong!
Showcase at the inaugural SkillsFuture Festival at the Lifelong Learning Institute

We are very pleased to have been able to take part in the SkillsFuture Festival 2018. At the launch of the month-long event, we were able to share how technology in robotics is likely to increasingly feature in our future. Job opportunities for robot manufacturing, maintenance and operation, will be in demand. At the Lifelong Learning Institute, workers can acquire the knowhow to keep abreast of the latest changes.

We are very honoured to have had a visit from Professor Paik and his delegation from South Korea. EDGAR-2 spoke with the Minister and even managed a Korean greeting! We are glad to also have enjoyed a few laughs with our Korean visitors. 감사합니다!
TEDxNTU appearance

EDGAR-2 made a special appearance at TEDxNTU for the talk with Dr Wong Choon Yue about embracing the maker spirit. In this talk, Dr Wong highlighted some challenges faced by makers in Singapore and described how it is important to persevere in creating things. We hope that EDGAR has intrigued and inspired a few makers! Many thanks to the TEDxNTU team for this opportunity. This talk can be seen here .
Asian Business Summit
9th October 2017
EDGAR-2 also was at the Asian Business Summit 2017 organised by the Institute for Asian Consumer Insight. This summit featured numerous business leaders who spoke about aspects such as the future of retail, e-commerce and trade. There, EDGAR introduced himself as a possible soultion for upcoming requirements in customer service. Perhaps in the future, EDGAR may be found at shopping centres, hotels and hospitals of the future. At the end of the programme, EDGAR even did a dance number with some student dancers from NTU!

One-North Festival
5th and 6th August 2016
EDGAR-2 was part of the NTU College of Engineering's team at the One-North Festival 2016. The exhibition has been a celebration of research and innovation, with many leading scientists, innovators, media professionals and entrepreneurs from various backgrounds showcasing their expertise. Held at A*STAR's Fusionopolis campus, our booth drew an interesting mix of visitors consisiting of professional researchers as well as children. We also received numerous encouraging queries regarding the commercialization of our work and also children who want to buy EDGAR for themselves. Who knows? Perhaps a commercial version of the EDGAR robots may be realised in the future.

IDA Tech Saturday 2016
21st May 2016
Tech Saturday 2016 organized by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) was a giant tech party! We are thrilled to have been a part of this event. There were unmanned vehicle races, hackathons and a tech showcase of various Singaporean technologies. The EDGAR team was spending its second consecutive Saturday at the Suntec City shopping centre and we're exhausted. Still, it has been encouraging and rewarding to see the enthusiasm that the public has for our work. EDGAR-2 certainly does have a few fans I should think.

NTU Venture 9 is the sleek electric vehicle that is seen on the right side of the above picture. It is the latest one in the electric-vehicle series that has been developed by student-teams from NTU's College of Engineering. The EDGAR team joined them at the MAE High Tea event so that prospective NTU students and their parents could get up close with the technology produced in MAE. It is heartening to see the turnout at this event and to hear these future NTU undergrads share their nervous excitement. :)
